Sun StorEdge L1000 library configuration

I'm trying to get a Sun L1000 to work with BRU on a linux server. BRU
says I need to make sure that the L1000 is NOT in sequential/autoloader
mode. I don't know how to check this, and Google has not been very
helpful. Even the L1000 User's guide doesn't mention this. How do I
change the library to random/scsi mode?
