Good Afternoon,
Please chastise me later for not researching but I am under the gun
here. I need to order the biggest IDE drives I can find to put into an
Ultra-5. I will be running solaris 8 as the OS. I am looking at the
barracuda 120gb hd. The only thing I really care about is data storage.
Read/write access time is not an issue. Just need to know if 120gb will
work for Ultra5 with Sol5.8..

"Answer"
Although I had a lot of the same answers from a lot of different
sources (too many to list here) the general answer was as follows:

The Ultra 5s and Ultra 10s have got a 33MHz IDE bus, and therefore
should happily take a 120GB drive, if you make sure you flash the OBP to
the latest version, 3.31 which is done by applying patch 106121 and
following the instructions (link:
http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/U5/U5.html )

I've got two Ultra 10 systems here (which uses the same IDE interface)
and I've got an 80GB in one, and a 120GB in the other. The actual size
ceiling is 133GB.
