Hi,
I am very sorry for posting an off topic question.
Since we are planning on migrating from NIS to LDAP, we are
working on password synchronization between nis database and sun one
directory server database.
We plan to use pam modules for the task
The pam.conf is as follows.
passwd auth required pam_ldap.so
passwd password required pam_unix.so
passwd password required pam_ldap.so try_first_pass
passwd account required pam_ldap.so
The nsswitch.conf file is as follows
passwd : files nis ldap
....
Previously i used to have this configuration, and it was working fine
in synchronizing the NIS and LDAP passwords. Now it gives me an error
, giving me a list of compatible databases for passwords, which does
not have the "files nis ldap" combination.
The manual page of nsswitch.conf states that if password policies are
enabled, then the above combination does not work. It would be of
great help if somebody could help me in removing the conflicting
password policy.
Any help is appreciated
regards
