Errror during Solaris 7 to Solaris 9 upgrade

Howdy,

I think this problem surfaced last fall but I couldnt see any responses
in the archives.

We are *upgrading* Solaris 7 to Solaris 9 on a Sun E450. After inserting
the Solaris OE CD (1 of 2), the web interface displays the following
messages scrolling display titled.....

        Gathering upgrade information, please wait... \

        At this moment an error window appeared with this text and an
        'ok' button:

        "Could not reinitialize system state. Please exit the installer
        and restart the installation"

No go from this point onwards.

Anyone have any ideas? Is this just an obtuse way of saying that an
upgrade install is not possible and that I have to do an 'initial
install'? Or is there some other reason....?
