Secure RDIST and NIS

Hi Admins,
There is a tricky situation I'm facing wherein the password files of NIS YP needs to be propogated to the solaris machines which do not use NIS.

This means the users of NIS needs to login to the solaris boxes, which do not use NIS, using the same username and password. However, they will not be NIS clients in the future as well. These boxes are around 500 in number.

 My question is,

1) How to use the NIS password maps in the non-NIS machines.

2) How to "securely" propogate the password and shadow files.(My research on this concludes to use "rdist -P /usr/bin/ssh -f /etc/distfile"). But, I'm not able to file rdist package for solaris 8 which uses ssh.

Your help will be greatly appreciated and I promise to Summarize.

Thanks in advance,
Vishwanath
