Jumpstart question

I have a boot server which dishes out a Solaris 8 mini-root to clients. Now if I try to jump a machine with Solaris 9 ( i.e. the install server dishes out a Solaris 9 OS image) the jumpstart fails with an error "could not load media".
I then tried it with a solaris 9 boot server and everything seems to work fine.
Is this a bug or a limitation ? Could sombody please explain why this happens and also if Jumpstart would work the other way round i.e. with a solaris 9 mini-root and solaris 8 OS image from the install server.
