Replacing an X1 by a V100

Hi everyone!

I'm dealing with a remote site running on a Netra X1. Unfortunately there is
no install server near it, so if the machine goes bad, I'm in trouble.

Now I'm starting to consider getting a SunFire V100, and the next time I get
to travel across the Atlantic (it's THAT remote), replacing the X1 by the
V100, which does have a CD-ROM drive for easier (I do have a console server
and intelligent hands on-site) installation.

Has anyone done something similar? Do you think it's possible to rip the RAM
and drives out of the X1, plug them into the V100 and have it boot up? What
about LOM and other hardware-related software like SDS and the dreaded dmfe?

What are the differences between the X1 and the V100?

Thanks in advance,

-martin
