Hello everyone,
I inherited a NIS+ master and slave with a number of NIS+ clients and one
old SS2 running sunOS 4.1.2. The SS2 needs NIS+ in compatibility mode. The
NIS+ slave recently died and the SS2 hangs on startup looking for a NIS
server. My guess is the slave server was running in compatibility mode. I'm
waiting on parts to get the slave back up. In the meantime I was wondering
if I restart the NIS+ master in compatibility mode is it going to have major
effects? Can I just switch back later?
The other option is to setup one of the clients as a NIS+ slave in running
in compatibility mode just like the one that died.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
