Network Interface Setup Problems after sys-unconfig

Dear All,

I have an E4500 (running Solaris8 10/01) with two separate Sun Gigabit
Ethernet cards. I had to change the hostname of the machine due to some
network changes requested by management.

I did a sys-unconfig which went through smoothly. But after I reboot, the
first Gigabit interface refuses to come up with the right netmask setting,
which is 255.255.255.192. It comes up as 255.255.255.0 and it's status is
not UP. However, it could be brought up manually with the correct netmask
settings with an "ifconfig" command. The second interface comes up okay.

The required settings in /etc/netmasks, /etc/hosts and /etc/hostname.ge0
have been set. What I notice is that during the boot up sequence, the
messages show the other interfaces being brought up except the first one.

The system has a couple of JNI FC-AL host bus adaptors for a SAN network.
Could this be interfering? But it worked before the hostname change.

I have duplicated this on a test server and the result is the same, so it
could not be hardware.

I would appreciate any help on this as I'm really lost on this one.

Best regards.

Isaiah Lee
