What versions of Solaris will run as LDAP clients?

I have a mixture of Solaris 2.5.1 up to Solaris 9 machines all on
SUN hardware.
My NIS + server is running Solaris 8.
I would like to move from NIS+ to LDAP.

What version of Solaris does the client need to be at to
be compatible with LDAP? Can I run NIS+ and LDAP simultaneously
(on separate machines) and authenticate some clients to LDAP
and others to NIS+?

What version of LDAP is recommended to run on SUN hardware under
Solaris 8 or 9, i.e. Sun's SunOne LDAP or Open LDAP etc?

What are the best documents that explain how to do this?

Thank You.
