Connecting to a Netra X1

Hi, I have a similar problem to the one Angel Alejandro Vega Soto had earlier:
http://www.blacksheepnetworks.com/security/resources/summaries/2004.html
I'm trying to make a SUN Netra X1 boot from a CD-ROM that I've attached on the second IDE-interface.
I have tried to connect one end of a standard ethernet-cable to the LOM-port and the other end to a SUN RJ45-DB25 adapter (530-2889) with a DB25-DB9-adapter and a gender-changer before connecting it to a linux-box. I've also tried to connect the RJ45 to what I think is a SUN RJ45-DB9 (530-3100, but it's not marked so I'm not really sure) before connecting it to the linux-box.
On the linux-machine I've tried both cu and minicom with 9600 8N1 /dev/ttyS0 but with no luck. I can see the whole boot-up process, but I seem to be unable to issue any commans to the Netra so I can't try to make it boot from the CD. Instead it detects that I've removed on of the harddrives to connect the CD, panics and reboots.
So I would be very grateful if someone could give me a hint on what I might be missing.

Best regards, Johan
