URGENT : NIS+ problem with "passwd -r"

I have just upgraded our NIS+ root master server from Solaris 8 to Solaris 9 , at the same time
installing Recommended and Security patches downloaded on 1st of April.

Now , when using the following syntax ;

passwd -r nisplus [username]

we get the message :

passwd: User unknown: [username]

Even though the user is shown as existing ,when I do ;

niscat passwd.org_dir | grep [username]

Any suggestions please ?
