Problem after Changing IP Address

Hi All,

We are experiencing some problems after an IP address change on an Ultra 2
running Solaris 8. The new IP address is on a different domain. I changed
all the recommended files (at least what I think are the recommended ones) -
/etc/hosts, /etc/netmasks, /etc/defaultrouter, /etc/resolv.conf. We don't
use NIS and I didn't change hostname.hme0 since the hostname hasn't changed
(I'm pretty sure there's no requirement to add any IP address related
information in this file). After making these changes, the machine hangs at
boot-up. The last message that appears on the screen is

Setting default IPv4 interface for multicast: add net 224.0/4: gateway
<hostname>

The boot-up then stalls.

Looking at the startup files, this message comes from /etc/rc1.d/K42inetsvc.
The actual corresponding shell command in /etc/rc1.d/K42inetsvc is

/usr/sbin/route -n add -interface "224.0/4" "$mcastif" >/dev/null

If I boot from a CD-ROM and subsequently try to ifconfig to configure hme0
with the new IP address, this works fine but a reboot stalls again
subsequently.

Any help on identifying the source of this problem would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks,
John Kelly.
