Hi,
I am trying to bring up the nis master server on a
Solaris 2.8 box using
/usr/sbin/ypinit -m

It is aborting with the message

*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `k'
Error running Makefile.

The domainname patch
112138-01 is installed on the box.
The detailed startup messages as follows:

bash-2.03# /usr/sbin/ypinit -m

In order for NIS to operate sucessfully, we have to
construct a list of the
NIS servers. Please continue to add the names for YP
servers in order of
preference, one per line. When you are done with the
list, type a <control D>
or a return on a line by itself.
        next host to add: sparc32
        next host to add:
The current list of yp servers looks like this:

sparc32

Is this correct? [y/n: y] y

Installing the YP database will require that you
answer a few questions.
Questions will all be asked at the beginning of the
procedure.

Do you want this procedure to quit on non-fatal
errors? [y/n: n]
OK, please remember to go back and redo manually
whatever fails. If you
don't, some part of the system (perhaps the yp itself)
won't work.
The yp domain directory is /var/yp/install.lab
Can we destroy the existing /var/yp/install.lab and
its contents? [y/n: n] y
There will be no further questions. The remainder of
the procedure should take
5 to 10 minutes.

sparc32 has been set up as a yp master server with
errors. Please remember
to figure out what went wrong, and fix it.

If there are running slave yp servers, run yppush now
for any data bases
which have been changed. If there are no running
slaves, run ypinit on
those hosts which are to be slave servers.

Could somebody throw some light on what needs to be
done?
TIA
Sushma
