Solaris 9 on v440

Can anyone help me with getting a V440 to Jumpstart Solaris 9? I realize that
Solaris 9 12/03 is needed for V440 support; I've got 08/03 on my Jumpstart
server and thought it should be simple enough to patch rather than order a new
media kit (I've done this type of thing before with success back on Solaris
2.6).

I grabbed the newest 9_Recommended cluster patch (as of Jan 6, 2004) and
performed the following steps on my Jumpstart server:

# cd <patchdir>/9_Recommended
# for patch in `cat patch_order`
  do
    patchadd -C <exportdir>/Solaris_9/Tools/Boot $patch
  done

This seems to patch the bootable image and the V440 does boot, but when it
gets to the point of formatting its disk it fails because none of the internal
disks are seen:

  ERROR: No disks found
           - Check to make sure disks are cabled and powered up

When I do a format from the net-booted single user mode, I see that there are
indeed no disks. Since I have a bootable version of Solaris 8 on the V440 (on
one of the internal disks), I know the hardware is ok.

Is there some patch that I'm missing, or was some device related file on the
miniroot missed?
