V880 usb problem.

I admin a V880 that have developed a somewhat strange problem. After a
reboot it doesn't find the usb mouse and dtlogin/X refuses to start.
The console reports :
lightning console login: Dec 9 16:21:38 lightning usba: WARNING: /pci@9,700000/usb@1,3 (ohci0): connecting device on port 1 failed

This happens even if I just do a "shutdown -i6 -y" and don't touch
keyboard or mouse while waiting for the reboot.
The only solution seems to be to unplug the usb cables, "cuddle" them
and reinsert them, one or more times and then restart dtlogin.
We use fairly long usb extension cables and I realize this might cause a
problem, but once the machine does see the mouse there's no problem.
I've also tried a different set of mouse/keyboard and bypassed the
extensioncables, still the same problem.

One might say that the solution is to avoid reboots, and I'd be happy to
comply. However, we're doing fairly cutting edge development stuff and
we keep getting new patches from sun so reboots are more or less
unavoidable.

Any hints greatly apreciated.
