handling large files in Solaris 8 ...

Hi all,

I am working on Intel Solaris 8 (P4 - 2 GHz). I have 8 files which
are 1 GB in size each. I want to merge them together and this would
create a file of 8 GB size. I have tried all utilities (zcat, gzcat, etc..)
from /usr/bin and /bin, which support largefile as per the manual),
but all of these break when file size reaches 2 GB. Can anybody help
me ?
