/etc/defaultrouter <-- where else?

Greetings,

I'm working on a 280R and am unable to configure the interface. Even with
/etc/hostname.eri0 and /etc/defaultrouter set the boot complains about
setifflags "cannot assign requested address ern.info at fp0"

I'm using a reserved ip, bogus: 192.168.10.53 but I can't imagine this being
the issue.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
