mkfile on vxfs partition problem

All;

do anyone know of any problems with using mkfile
on a vxfs partition.

when I use the command

mkfile 10000m /usr/local2
which is a vxfs filesystem my freemem
gets used up. The system appears to be
paging correctly but swap is never used.

It takes about 30 seconds for the above command
to bring my 6800 to its knees. I have tried this
on a ufs filesystem and everything works fine.

All software and firmware are up to date.
