Casper was kind enough to inform me that it is SUNWman - nearly a guessable
name. Mind you, I do still wonder why it wasn't installed in the first place.

pkgchk -l -p /usr/share/man/sman1/man.1
does the trick. I didn't know that pkgchk did anything other than check
package integrity. It is of course in the man page . . .
Thanks Casper, and sorry for bothering the list with what was really a rather
trivial question* (though the less trivial question of why the latest version
of Solaris 8 won't install on this blooming Ultra 5 is still open)
*in my defence, I think I did mention that I had looked on all the CDs. The
way I did that was :
grep -i "man pages" Solaris_8/Product/*/pkginfo|grep NAME
There are lots of packages which include man pages, and they nearly all say
"man pages" in the NAME. All EXCEPT the standard man pages, whose NAME refers
to Manual Pages :-(
