Dear gurus,

i newly installed solaris 8 on my ultra 5 machine. after the installation, i
had created one user and the default entry for the user's shell is
/usr/local/bin/tcsh...however when i try to log in to the user from root
user (su - a8610), i get the error message:

a8610cu1:isup_help# su - a8610
su: No shell

if i modify user a8610 default shell to /sbin/sh, then i can manage to log
in and after that if i type tcsh, i can get into the tcsh shell but why
can't i log it directly?

Also when i try to telnet the unix machine from my windows box using root
id, it fails and i get the following message;

SunOS 5.8
login:root
Password:
No utmpx entry. You must exec "login" from lowest level "shell"

Can you please advice on what is wrong? Thanks all !!

br,
Dinesh
