SUMMARY: metatool

Thanks to those who suggested it might be related to an RPC service.

Basically rpc.metamhd needs to be running in order for metatool to
correctly report on disk status. This daemon can be started manually
but is often invoked by inetd. I had turned off all inetd services on
the system some time ago which led to the discordant results when
launching metatool...

Cheers,
Robert Petkus
