Sybase raw devices on DiskSuite 4.2.1 soft partitions

Hello. I am running Solaris 8 and using DiskSuite 4.2.1 to manage the disks.

I have created a mirrored metadevice and created soft partitions on top of
this (see below). I can then create file systems on these soft partitions -
no problem (d100 and d101). However when I create soft partitions and try
and use them as raw devices for a Sybase ASE 12.5 server I run in to
problems.

I have created one 100M soft partition d110 and another 200Mb soft partition
d111. I am accessing these as /dev/md/rdsk/d100 and d101. When I invoke
srvbuildres (sybase install product) it says it cannot access these devices.
(ps this is not a file permission problem, you get a different error message
and I have sorted this out).

Any ideas? Has anyone successfully used ODS soft partitions as any kind of
raw device? Has anyone successfully used soft partitions as raw devices for
a sybase server?

Thanks for any help.
