Ok, I hope this isn't a stupid question...
I need to set up a terminal attached via serial cable to a
Sparcstation-10 running Solaris 8. Should be easy, except
the interface is something I haven't seen before, and I think
it's fairly old.
It's a "Serial Parallel Controller", made by Sun; it looks like
a wide power-strip except it has 8 serial 25-pin connectors
pointing straight up, one labelled "Parallel" and 7 labelled
"Serial", and the input from the server is a 96-pin very
narrow centronics-style connector that I haven't seen before.
Apparently this thing allows devices to share a single sbus
input, as there is a printer connected to the Parallel input
and the terminal is connected via one of the serial connectors.
My question is, how does one configure the system for this
terminal? I just upgraded the system for a (very part-time)
client, but I didn't know about this terminal beforehand and
of course he needs it yesterday.
Any clues or pointers greatly appreciated. Can I just follow
the standard instructions given at Celeste Stokely's terminal/modem
tutorial:
http://www.stokely.com/unix.serial.port.resources/modem.html
Thanks! Summary certainly to follow.
Dave
