UW Imap software authorization problem

Hi Guys,

I have successfully installed Univ. of Washington's Imap server on a
solaris 9 sparc box:

bash-2.05$ uname -a
SunOS shinda 5.9 Generic_112233-05 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-5_10
bash-2.05$

used "make gso" to install the software.

I have confirmed that the imap server is currently running:

bash-2.05$ netstat -a | grep imap
      *.imap *.* 0 0 49152 0 LISTEN
bash-2.05$

nmap -sT shinda from one of my other hosts returns:
143/tcp open imap2

However, when I try and connect to my Imap server from my windows
clients (tried both outlook & netscape) I get a authorization failed
error but nothing in the syslog on the server itself. I get the
following error from my outlook client:

LOGIN failed
Configuration:
   Account: 192.168.0.5
   Server: 192.168.0.5
   User name: simran
   Protocol: IMAP
   Port: 143
   Secure(SSL): 0
   Code: 800cccd1
---
Any ideas as to what I might be missing?  Any suggestions or comments 
would be greatly appreciated.
