Hello,
I was having trouble with an E10K domain that was panicked every
time I tried to do a Jumpstart.
I would like to thank Casper Dik who helped me resolve the problem.
There were others as well, but their suggestions didn't work
for my situation. I also got about 20 "vacation" messages from
various people which wasn't so welcome.
I had 2 issues. The first was the command I invoked at the
PROM monitor.
I was doing:
ok> boot -v net - install
When I should've done:
ok> boot net -v - install
Although it didn't explain why it was still crashing when I just did:
ok> boot net - install
Which was really my original concern.
The solution to this part was to add the following patches to my
network boot image:
Latest Kernel Patch (plus dependencies)
Latest lvm/md patch (plus dependencies)
And because I was using a Gigabit ethernet device, the Latest gem patch
and qfe patch.
Interestingly, it would configure during the netboot to use the qfe0
device but then try to install off the gem0 device. For some reason,
this wasn't working but after installing the patches for these
devices, everything came up fine. I had to work this out by
first principles as there was little information in the SRDB's or
anywhere else online so it must've been a specific problem with
our configuration and environment.
