Dead battery in A1000

I have an A1000 attached to a Sun 420 running Netscape Directory Server
4.12. The A1000 has four 18GB drives set up as RAID 5. The battery in the
A1000 has failed so now the Write Cache is not functioning. Does anyone
know what kind of affect the dead battery will have on the A1000
performance?
