Hi,
I'm trying to use NIS only for users authentication.
I have configured NIS server refering to
http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/806-1390/6jam94jus?a=view
Configured the NIS server (Note only passwd,shadow and hosts maps where built)
Started the NIS service
After this i just changed the entry(only for passwd and groups) in
/etc/nsswitch.conf as :
passwd: nis
group: nis
hosts: files
networks: files
protocols: files
rpc: files
----------------
After this i was ablt to SU - <username>
But just commented these 2 lines:
#passwd: nis
#group: nis
hosts: files
Restrated NIS service!!
STILL IT WORKED!! HOW ??????
