device size too small for metadevice database replica

Disksuite 4.2.1 metadb(1M) manual page says about the size of a metadevice
state database replica:

The default length is 1034 blocks, which should be appropriate for most
  configurations.

I want to create 3 state database replicas on a 9GB disk in an Ultra 60.
So, I create a partition on it:

Part Tag Flag Cylinders Size Blocks
  3 unassigned wu 294 - 296 5.26MB (3/0/0) 10773

10773 blocks seem to be more than enough for 3 replicas (3*1034=3102
blocks). However,

# metadb -f -a -c 3 /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s3
metadb: c0t0d0s3: device size 10773 is too small for metadevice database
replica

System is running Solaris 9, patched up to 19 august 2003 recommended
cluster.

I am eager to include your responses in my summary.

Thanks, Koef.
