Hello all

Question: how to debug flash archive installation ...?

I have a simple network:

        +-------------+
        | DNS-Server |----+
        +-------------+ |
        +-------------+ |
        | BOOT-Server |----+
        +-------------+ | +-+
        +-------------+ | |S|
        | Flash-Server|----+ |w|
        +-------------+ +-----+i|
        +-------------+ | |t|
        | Appl01Server|----+ |c|
        +-------------+ | |h|
        +-------------+ | +-+
        | ApplxxServer|----+
        +-------------+ |
        +-------------+ |
        | Appl03Server|----+
        +-------------+

All Servers (Sun Fire V100) already installed by Flash Archive
and the same procedure. After installing the current patches to
the Bootserver the flash installation fails (interactive
"Solaris Installation Program" Screen ... ?)

I have a script which will prepare all the needed files for flush
installation. All appl servers got installed by the same steps

  - booting from bootserver
  - loading sysidcfg from bootserver
  - loading flash archive from flash server

Now I can't use flash archive install anymore. I tried to use
Appl03Server instead of the original BootServer and installation is
working ... but I can't see any difference between the original
Bootserver and Appl03Server except BootServer has all current patches
installed and Appl03Server not yet.

--> jumpstart finds the sysidcfg file
--> sysidcfg on BootServer and Appl03Server are identical

Here I have the failed install tracefile:

After spending hours(days) any hints welcome ... ;-)
What kind of problem do I have?
How can I debug this installation problem (phase between "Starting
remote procedure call (RPC) services: sysidns done" and "System
identification complete")? I have extracted all files in config.tar
(rules.ok, profile, finish, sysidcfg) and they are all identical
on BootServer and Appl03Server!

I already tried to debug with snoop but I couldn't see anything special.
I could try to reinstall the BootServer but I'd like to know the source
of this nasty problem!

Best regards
-- Beat
