Disaster Recovery for Encapsulated OS Disks w/o BMR

Hello All,

We found out a while back that Veritas Bare Metal Restore does not support
Solaris 9 yet, with projected delivery Q4/03-Q1/04 for OS backups.

While we don't use SDS or Solaris Volume manager, we are still not able to
procure a commercial DR ready solution.

Has anyone found a good way to make a DR capable OS snapshot, including
Veritas constructs?

As of now, we are looking at:

Ufsdump of the / and /var file systems (to disk).
Vxdump of the /netbackup file system (to disk).

Recovery would be restoration to native UFS filesystem and then
re-installing the Veritas encapsulation. As this requires several reboots
to create the Private and public regions etc... and lots of other
intermediate steps.

Has anyone a cleaner way to create a replica of a Veritas encapsulated UFS
OS, and a native VxFS (Netbackup) partition?

I actualy purchased BMR from Veritas for this, only to find Solaris 9 was
not supported :^/. So, have to recreate its function now.

FWIW, this is for the 280/480/880 series, with the associated WWN
complexities as well.
