Printer problems

I have a strange problem where printers seem to drop off for some machines
on the network. Here is the situation. I have a network of about 35 Ultra
10 systems and a SunFire v880. We also have about ten network printers, all
HP and a majority are 2200s and a few 4050s. We used to use an Ultra 10 as
a print server, but one of our users blew it up (literally) and I recreated
all the printers on the server (v880) (used printmgr to enter them). We use
NIS+, so when we had a print server I had done the fncreate, etc. Now all
the printers are on the server and in NIS+, but I still see some in
NIS+(xfn). I am guessing the printers listed under NIS+(xfn) are the ones
that got created when you do the fncreate_printer -s
thisorgunit/service/printer.

Since I no longer need the server to forward print request to another
machine acting as a print server, can I remove the printers from NIS+ (xfn)?
What would happen if I do an fndestroy on org// (the original create was
fncreate -o -t org org//)? I suspect that a lot of my problems with users
printing is because they are still hanging around from when we had a print
server. When I originally re-created them I gave them different names, but
I think another new sys admin went behind me afterwards and re-ran the
fncreate command (which is why I now have printers in NIS+(xfn) that match
the names of printers I have defined under NIS+). So now I suspect that the
system gets a little confused and tries to forward print request to itself.

I could be way off base, but I am not that knowledgeable when it comes to
NIS+. Any information or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
