Hello,
I have Sun 220R running Solaris 7. I have an external
SCSI tape drive attached. I am in a bit of a pickle. I
need attach the drive to another machine and back that
machine up. I am wondering if the following is
possible and what the repercussions might be:

Unplug the external scsi cable from the 220.

Attach the external tape drive to another machine,
reboot that machine to have ir recognize the new
hardware and back it up.

Unplug the tape drive and simply connect it back to
the original SUN machine without rebooting.

I guess I am worried about a bus fault or panic
occuring once I plug the tape drive back into the SUN
220R. However I want to say that I have external scsi
cables become detached before and as long as there is
no data being moved over them everything should be
fine. If anyone could lend some insight regarding the
it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
