a1000 reconfigure without reboot

I have a Sun E250 attached to an A1000 with two LUNs, LUN0 is a 4 disk
raid5 and LUN1 is a 3 disk raid5. I have deleted LUN1 and configured one
drive as a hot spare. I also have removed the rest of the
unassigned/unused drives. Problem is the drives I removed are still
shown by drivutil as failed drives. How could I remove the drives from
the listing without a reboot or resetting the configuration of the
A1000. We are running our RADIUS and LDAP on this server on LUN0, so a
reset configuration is out of the question. Any help would be appreciated.

aaa:/usr/lib/osa/bin# ./drivutil -i c1t5d0s0
