I replace the NVRAM chip on my SS2 about a year ago because of dead
battery problems. All went well until about a week ago when I powered off
the system to do electrical work on the house. Turned it back on to find
out this chip's battery died as well. What I'm looking for are suggestions
where to get a reasonably priced chip that will last longer than a year.
If it helps, this is a sun4c architechture. The squirrel.com hostid faq
says this would take a SGS-Thompson M48T02 at 200ns. Personal opinions of
companies recommended are welcome.
And along those lines I was curious if anyone knows if the battery gets
drained while the system is on or just when it's off.
