Problem configuring E6500 with 2 T3s In a Partner Pair

I have configured 2 T3s in a partner pair.

I have created luns on the master and alternate as such:

t3bottom:/:<9>vol list

volume capacity raid data standby
u1v1 108.6 GB 1 u1d1-6 u1d9
u2v1 144.8 GB 1 u2d1-8 u2d9
u1v2 72.4 GB 0 u1d7-8 none

t3bottom:/:<10>sys stat
Unit State Role Partner
----- --------- ------ -------
  1 ONLINE Master 2
  2 ONLINE AlterM 1

I am able to format and newfs any slices I creat on u2v1 (the Master);
however I am only able to format slices on the Alternate.

When I attempt to create filesystems on the Alternate Master's luns I get
LIP errors (the fiber loop resets).

Sun has looked at the Explorer of the host and the Extract from the T3s and
feel it might be a bad controller or flakey cable.

I also lose the alternate all together (it does not show up in a luxadm
probe) and the only resolution I have found is to do a vol unmount on the T3
and then vol mount. This usually makes the luns show up again in format,
luxadm probe, etc.

Errors I see when I try access the alternate:

ghsl020ptlge# newfs /dev/dsk/c1t1d0s0
/dev/rdsk/c1t1d0s0: I/O error
ghsl020ptlge# newfs /dev/dsk/c1t1d1s0
/dev/rdsk/c1t1d1s0: I/O error
ghsl020ptlge# luxadm probe
No Network Array enclosures found in /dev/es

Found Fibre Channel device:
  Node WWN:50020f200000a833 Device Type:Disk device
    Logical Path:/dev/rdsk/c2t2d2s2

(AT THIS POINT THE ALTERNATE NO LONGER SHOWS UP)
(SO I RUN A vol unmount u1v1 & u1v2 THEN I MOUNT THEM)

Does anyone know why I am getting these "unknown device type 3f" or the LIP
resets?

Thanks.
