Everyone,
I admit I phrased the message entirely wrong ... I my frustration I didnt
sit down
and take the time to say what was done / what was happening / what wasnt
happening, so here goes
local users and NIS users
1. access and authentication is not the primary issue here
this issue at hand is this ...
if a local user logs in before a NIS user then the local user gets their
directory
and the NIS user gets their directory ....
but if a NIS user logs in before a local user then the local user gets the
"logging in with /" which in turn indicates to me that somehow the auto_*
and auto.* are misbehaving
