If you spoof the MAC/IP, how can you spoof the proxy without
spoofing the switch/router [depending on the network]? How will
the returning packets reach you? The packets will go out, but
never come back, so you won't be able to surf.

Spoofing works very well for DoS, but not for 2-way connections
such as HTTP, SMTP,... unless you control the proxy, but then you
don't need that...
