[HPADM] Summary: Removal of volumes long gone

The short answer is to issue the commands:

 vgchange -a n /dev/HDSF1
 vgexport /dev/HDSF1

Thanks to all who made suchlike suggestions, in particular
Steve Hamilton and Bill Hassell. The commands vgremove and
pvremove are - contrary to common logic - not to be used.

Bill also pointed me to rmsf for further device clean-up.
I'll pause on that one for the time being, at least until
the next reboot has revealed what residual garbage info is
 thrown upon the screen.

 Cheers

Emne: Removal of volumes long gone

 Hi all,

Long ago I removed some disk volumes physically and from fstab.

Now I want to get rid of the obsolete rest.

Prior to pvremove I attempt vgremove, but get this error:

 # vgremove /dev/HDSF1
 vgremove: Volume group not activated.
 #

I assume the text to indicate that the group exists ok in the /etc/lvmtab file.

So, how do I proceed to erase /dev/HDSF1?
