I received lot of responce . Thanks to every one .
Basically most of the suggestions were to use lsof
and fuser .
Jeff Lightner was little more closer . He sugested to
look the SIZE column in lsof out put which has no name
on name field . I did find 2 big entries ( more than
1 gb each ) but it did had name . These were from a
perf monitoring software . so I did stop and started
it and I got my 3 GB back .

for a large
value
in the SIZE/OFF column with no name in the NAME column
would give me
the
process. I could then kill the process.
