[HPADM] Hostname and CDE problems

Hello,

I have a small group of HP-UX 10.20 systems that have been around for a
long time. When I first set them up, we had no intention of connecting
to the internet. Well, that has changed over the years and my use of
our internet domainname for the internal network systems has caused
problems for years.

I decided to change the hostnames for these systems from
"system1.company.com" to "system1.mycompany.com" so I could simplify my
new firewall setup.

I edited the /etc/hosts file and changed all of the references to the
old name. I then used the "/sbin/set_parms hostname" to change the name
of the systems. After entering this command the systems rebooted.

One of the systems is stuck and does not show the CDE login page. A
second system shows the page, but does not allow logins. I have dug
around on the two systems and discovered that the NFS mounted and
exported file systems did not make it through the reboot.

I think I can reconstruct the NFS mounts and exports, but I don't have a
clue how to fix the CDE login problem.

I also noticed that the display type is no longer being detected
correctly during a shell login. I have to manually set TERM=hp to be
eble to use the vi editor...

What else should I have done to correctly change to system's host name?

How do I get the CDE login working again?

Thank you for your time!
