[HPADM] time adjustment

Hello,

Again I have a time-adjustment issue.

For a group of systems we have set up a time-server with which
all other systems in that group synchronize through (x)ntp.
This works very well.

However, due to circumstances the central time-server is no longer
connected to the 'real' time. This means it runs its own time and
so slowly drifts away from the 'real' time.

The difference has changed to some five minutes now.
To be more precise, it runs five minutes ahead.
We plan to adjust the time of the time-server manually with the 'date -a ...'
command.

Do you think this is the proper procedure to follow?
(I know we really should connect the time-server to a atm-clock receiver,
but that is not possible at this moment)

Do you have any idea how long it will take for the system clock in the
time-server to adjust this time-difference of five minutes?

Will this procedure have any procedure for all other systems, i.e.
will they 'follow' the adjustment ? (I would say yes)

Thanks in advance for any remarks and/or comments on this.

-Harm-
