Yes, You have to change the zoning and volume logix.

    1) Add the new WWN to the existing zone and remove the old WWN

    2) fpath swaphba -d <VCMDBDEVICE> -w <old wwn> -n <new wwn>

We use the new "symmask/db" commands, which would be:

         symmask -wwn <Old WWN> replace <New WWN> -s XXXX

    3) fpath refresh -d <VCMDBDEVICE>

                    symmask refresh

Hi Stuart.

You will have to change the zoning and LUN Masking. The WWN typically is
not preserved, it is typically hard coded to the HBA.

I think the swap HBA option is found in the LUN masking software, or maybe
the command line Configuration Manager. That might be the quick way to move
the masking from the "bad" HBA to the new one.

We recently went thru something like this on a Win2000 server with a Emulex
LP8000. The server guys replaced a HBA without telling the storage guys.
ECC didn't flag the HBA as no longer being there. The server was
registering some kind of errors and I think there were errors seen in the
switch port logs. We had to scramble to get a new zone in place and change
the LUN masking.

Let us know what you find out.

Mark

emc_list:

There is some possibility that we may have to replace an HBA in one of our
HP UNIX servers. (Not confirmed yet.)
We have HP rp7410s running hp-ux 11.11.

How does one do this (software/zoning/access - wise)?

Can the HP CE preserve the HBA WWN? If so, then zoning, Volume Access, etc,
stays the same. If NOT, then we have to redo zoning and volume access.

I recall seeing a command option to "swap HBA", but I forget where..
