I am trying to build a central repository for
software products supported on HP-UX 10.20, 11 and 11i
systems. It should also be possible to store custom
created products and patches in this repository.
The problem I am facing is the organization of this
repository. I will explain my current directory
hierarchy below,
<repos-prefix>/Rel_B.10.20
|- standard
`- apps
<repos-prefix>/Rel_B.11.00
|- standard
`- apps
<repos-prefix>/Rel_B.11.11
|- standard
`- apps
So, in total I have 6 software depots 'standard' and
'apps' for 3 OS versions. This works quite well until
we introduce patch packages.
I am creating custom product 'ABC' version 1.0 and
store this in /pkgs/Rel_B.11.00/apps depot.
Patched version of 'ABC' will have version 1.1 and I
will store this product also in
/pkgs/Rel_B.11.00/apps.
If we do it this way, then I am facing problems while
installing the packages. Instead of installing 'ABC' V
1.0 and then applying the patch, it tries to install
'ABC' V 1.1 directly and fails. I tried giving package
dependency etc, even then it doesn't work.
If anybody has setup this kind of central repository,
could you please share your structure with me.
It would be great if we can come up with a structure
where a product can be installed and patches applied
in one 'swinstall' command.
