Hello Kelly,
Could you plz recheck your /etc/services file. Make sure that the file
contains the necessary entries for the services (for this case imap) you
want to run and
that it is world readable. If still problem exists, try /sbin/init.d/inetd
stop and start though both are same. And alsoyou may want to diff this file
with that of another machine.
