Hi Gurus,
I have SNMP running and initially when I start the
alarm dispatcher and alarm agent, the receivers are
able to get traps again, and a lot.
But then everything stops and the logs accumulate.
The only way out is to restart alarm dispatcher and
alarm agent, the receivers are then again able to get
traps, and a lot.
Is it some port hanging problem or Firewall problem as
the packets have to go through a FW before reaching
the Management box....
I am using the following ports and here are the ping
results to Two boxes I use:
$/usr/sbin/ping -p 160 -U -s x.x.x.1
PING x.x.x.1: 56 data bytes
36 bytes from x.x.x.1: udp_port=160.
36 bytes from x.x.x.1: udp_port=163.
36 bytes from x.x.x.1: udp_port=164.
36 bytes from x.x.x.1: udp_port=165.
$/usr/sbin/ping -p 160 -U -s x.x.x.2
PING x.x.x.2: 56 data bytes
36 bytes from x.x.x.2: udp_port=160.
36 bytes from x.x.x.2: udp_port=161.
36 bytes from x.x.x.2: udp_port=163.
36 bytes from x.x.x.2: udp_port=164.
36 bytes from x.x.x.2: udp_port=165.
However, pings to port 8086 works for both:
$ /usr/sbin/ping -p 8084 -U -s x.x.x.1
PING x.x.x.1: 56 data bytes
36 bytes from x.x.x.1: udp_port=8084.
36 bytes from x.x.x.1: udp_port=8085.
36 bytes from x.x.x.1: udp_port=8086.
36 bytes from x.x.x.1: udp_port=8087.
$/usr/sbin/ping -p 8084 -U -s x.x.x.2
PING x.x.x.2: 56 data bytes
36 bytes from x.x.x.2: udp_port=8084.
36 bytes from x.x.x.2: udp_port=8085.
36 bytes from x.x.x.2: udp_port=8086.
36 bytes from x.x.x.2: udp_port=8087.
How can I trouble-shoot this problem..
I want to make sure it is not OS related problem..
