[HPADM] Can 'gcc' and HP C/Ansi C coexist on same server?

I have an 11.0 server with the HP C/Ansi C application installed and a Perl
5.6.1 installation from the Porting and Archive Center. I need to install
several addin modules, Date::Calc for one, but when I go to make it I get an
error that says 'gcc' not found. I tried changing the Makefile making CC=cc
but that chokes as well. Easiest fix I can think of is to install gcc,
gmake, gnu flex and gnu bison and try again. My question is will there be a
problem with both HP C/Ansi C and gcc on the same box?
