[HPADM] SUMMARY : How to "clone" HP 9000 382 controller

Thanks to Tom Henning, Dave Ritchie, and Eef Hartman for trying to answer
this one.

Based on the responses from the above named individuals I spent some time
digging into the configuration of the unit. This machine actually runs HP
Pascal AS THE OPERATING SYSTEM! Apparently a dozen years ago when this
system was put together the HP-UX O/S didn't have fast enough I/O to handle
the signals back & forth to the 98628A Serial card. HP Pascal was used
internally by HP and a supported option for VAR's who wanted to bundle the
controllers with automation systems.

I have contacted a couple used equipment vendors to get parts quotes.

Still no clue how to "clone" the disk - but now that I know the O/S perhaps
I'll find some info.

Hi All,
Sorry if this one is on the fringes, but hopefully someone can point me in
the right direction.

The anodize & plating line in our manufacturing plant has an HP 9000/382
controller connected to it (I assume it's running some sort of real-time O/S
controlling the cranes that move parts from tank to tank). I've been asked
to come up with a disaster response plan if/when the unit fails. My first
thought was to go out on the used market and pick up a spare controller and
somehow copy the existing hard drive onto the spare box so that in the event
of failure we could just swap controllers. Trouble is, the company has
downsized everyone who ever knew anything about the unit, and I'm having
trouble trying to even find the login username/password - let alone anything
else useful!

Anyone with 300 series experience want to take a shot at instructing me how
to do this? I'll even consider contracting in some help if you just want to
point me at the right resources...

TIA & will summarize...
