Thanks to all for the tremendous help is response to the question
below. Scott Riley got back with the answer first but many others chimed
in too.
To all;
I am trying to create a new volume group on a specific disk
location. However, looking at lvcreate, I don't see a way to tie the
volume group to the physical disk. How can this be done?
I have lvcreate -L size /dev/vg02 as an example. I see lvextend appears to
have the ability to do what needs to be done and I have an example in
lvextend -L 300 /dev/vg00/root /dev/dsk/c2t1d0.
Does lvcreate lack this ability?
What can be suggested as a solution?
Thanks,
Jeff Kubler

Jeff,

Yes, lvcreate lacks that ability. Instead, create a logical volume without
specifying a size (don't use a -L or -l option). You can then lvextend the
zero-length lvol onto the specific physical volume you want.
