I built the 5.2 system off of the 4.3.3 system so the files you mention are
still there. They contain the following:

In AIX 4.3.3 you have 2 files in the /etc/security, smitacl.group and
smitacl.user. This permit you give access to smit for some users and
groups.
I don't know if you have those files in AIX 5.2. Perhaps it will solve your
problem.

I was running "smitty". It lets the user in but it has no menu options.
Can only F10 out.
If I run "smit", a pop-up appears that says "Insufficient authorizations
for this panel"

"smit",
